43 Division News

Have you ever wondered what the police officers are doing when they are at the station?  At the March CPLC meeting Crime Analyst, PC John Fulton, gave us the answers.

Calls for Service 2008

So far this year there has been an average of 150 events every 24 hours.  These calls/events include assaults, B&E, domestic violence, gangs, graffiti, guns, parking, prostitution, speeding and traffic issues, robberies, swarmings, thefts, vandalism and the list goes on and on.

Please be understanding if your problem isn’t solved as quickly as you would like as many of the above calls take many hours and often days of investigation and paperwork that must be done.

Garden Tools Needed

The East Scarborough Storefront and its affiliate agencies will be starting a

”Community Garden” to be located at 4040 Lawrence Avenue East. This is the site where the water tower used to be and right beside the old police station. This garden will give residents who live in nearby apartments a chance to get out and to participate in gardening close to home.  The produce will be made available to local residents at the Community Market which will be held again this summer on the grounds of St. Margaret in the Pines Anglican Church.

Donations of tools can be dropped off at 43 Division, 4331 Lawrence Ave. E., in care of PC Dave Gray, who will deliver them to the organizers of this project.

The CPLC Community Picnic & Open House

This annual event will be held on Saturday May 10th from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the 43 Division station.  Please plan to attend as there will be something for everyone.

Community Alerts: Have you signed up?

Go to: www.torontopolice.on.ca/d43  and click on Sign-up for Community Alerts and follow the prompts.  I recommend that all Centennial residents subscribe – it’s free – and it’s the fastest way the Toronto Police Service can communicate to local residents about Crime and Safety within 43 Division.

Residents are urged to report all incidents of crime and suspicious people and activities to police, regardless of how minor they might seem.  By reporting all of these incidents, you are helping the police solve crimes, which in turn help to make our community safer.
