May is membership month.  Membership chairs Tony Sibley and Betty Karsh have been busy organizing this year’s campaign.  This is our major fund raising event for the year so when the volunteer canvasser calls, please support your community association and purchase your annual membership.  If you miss the canvasser or we were not able to have someone canvass your street you can always purchase your membership on-line through our web site at www.centennialcra.com or you can fill out the form in the newsletter and drop it off with your payment at our drop box in the Port Union Rec Centre.  We still need canvassers for a number of streets.  The list is elsewhere in this newsletter.  Please give either Tony or Betty a call if you are able to volunteer to canvass.

Earth Day was celebrated on Saturday April 19^th.  Thanks to Conservation Chair Chris Welch and Events Chair Heather Lemieux for helping in the organizing of this event and thanks to all the volunteers who came out to participate in cleaning up our community after what was one of the longest and most severe winters in recent memory.

Next year this association will be celebrating our 60^th anniversary.  This is a major milestone for a community association.  The executive have had some preliminary discussions on a suitable event(s) to mark this occasion.  Suggestions have ranged from a one day celebration to special events held in connection with our community events held throughout the year.  We would also be interested in any historical information, pictures etc. that you may have about our community.  You can contact me if you are able to share this with the community.  As you can appreciate marking this anniversary will require volunteers.  If you would like to volunteer or have any suggestions about how we should celebrate this anniversary please contact me or any one of the executive. 

Looking ahead to next month Highland Creek Heritage Day will be held Saturday June 14^th.  This is a day long community event for the whole family so mark the date on your calendars now.  More details will be in our June newsletter.
