President's Report
With summer
approaching we have two community events scheduled, one in June and the
other in July. On June 14th the annual Heritage
Day Festival will be held. This event gets underway with a parade
along Lawson Road starting at Centennial School at 11:00 a.m. and
finishing in Highland Creek. Festivities then continue throughout the day
in Highland Creek. This annual community event for the whole family is
sponsored in part by CCRA. Plan to attend!...Read President's report

Highland Creek Community
Stewardship Program- Three Years of Success !
What a ride
it has been! The Highland Creek Community Stewardship Program (HCCSP) is
completing its 3rd and final year this June. Thank you to all
the individuals who have helped make this project a success. We could not
have done it without you!
Here’s what
3690 tireless volunteers can do:
o
Accumulate over 12,500 hours of volunteer time (that’s 520
days!)
o
Plant 8685 trees and shrubs
o
Plant 1517 wildflowers
o
Clean up 6211 kilos of garbage

Port
Union Go Station circa 1856
The Grand
Truck Railroad opened in 1856 and this is their station at Port Union.
The Station Agent lived in the attached house which you may be able to see
just below the ladder shown on the roof on the upper right.

Scouting is on the move
As mentioned
in previous CCRA newsletters the Scouting youth of the 2nd Highland Creek
Venturer Scouts are planning a Centennial Scouting Service Project in
Africa in August this year in the Northern Ghana region near the city
of Tamale.
On August 1st
we’ll be heading to the airport.
Our time in
Ghana will be spent assisting the construction of the sleeping dormitory
at their Scout Village at Nwodua, meeting African Scouts, and some
sightseeing including the Water Falls at Kintanpo & a visit to Mole
National Park....More
