The Lost Army by Valerio Massimo Manfredi
A must read for those keen in historical fiction. If you can get over the dry writing style, it’s an interesting read. The atrocities of the war and the heroism of each nanfredi are told by the Syrian girl Abira, who leaves her home to follow the Greek soldier Xeno. See all free Kindle reading apps. That being said, it makes me wonder if the book was supposed to be written this way — Abira, the protagonist, talks about Xeno’s very dry writing from point A to point B, this distance, etc.
Yet it starts strong and ends well, so its’s not all bad.

Emercito was a struggle at times and a forced read is never a fun one. For the life of me though, I can’t understand why the last chapter was necessary.
